Works have started on a major project to connect Melton's Botanic Gardens with the Toolern Creek Trails, in an $850,000 project supported by a $190,900 grant from the Andrews Labor Government.
Member for Western Metropolitan Region Cesar Melhem said the Melton Botanic Trail project will join two of Melton's most picturesque natural assets and provide another outlet for social and recreational use.
Works include the construction of a walking track around the Botanic Lake, three pedestrian bridges, a board walk, one kilometre of shared path for pedestrians and cyclists and significant landscaping work.
The project was funded through the Growing Suburbs Fund (GSF), with Melton City Council having received $10.7 million from the GSF over two years.
The Growing Suburbs Fund supports council to build projects that improve connections, enhance services, and provide greater opportunities for local communities.
